New research has indicated that babies who are breast-fed have a higher IQ
and therefore a head start at school. The most comprehensive British study
of breast-feeding to date shows that it continued to have an effect on a
child's mental ability through to secondary school. The Department of Health
recommends that babies are exclusively breastfed until six months, although
many paediatricians say babies should be weaned earlier if they show an
interest in solids.-- Daily Telegraph, March 14, 2011
