Some bottled waters contain up to 100 times more bacteria than is permitted, according to a study. Tap water had fewer bacteria in it than the bottled version, said researchers in Canada, who found 70 per cent of top brands there had high levels. "The consumer assumes that, since bottled water has a price tag, it is purer and safer than most tap water," said Dr Sonish Azam, of C-Crest Laboratories. -- Evening Standard, May 26, 2010
