A drug taken by up to 100,000 men for enlarged prostate has been linked to male breast cancer, the UK medicines regulator has said.
New warnings will be added to the packaging of finasteride, also known as Proscar and Propecia, after five men taking the drug in Britain developed the cancer. An analysis by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency found that, worldwide, 53 men taking the drug had experienced the same problem. Daily Telegraph, December 4, 2009
